Ouarzazate, Morocco´s cinema city

Get to know Atlas Studios, its museum with legendary sets of the films they have made and the beautiful Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou is a destination that you should not overlook if you decide to travel to Morocco.

Atlas Studios is located around five miles from Ouarzazate and is consider one of the largest film studio in the world.

Over the years, Ouarzazate and its outdoors has served as a shooting location for different movies as “Alexander the Great,Kingdom of Heaven,Babel,The Mummy” (1999), “Star Wars” (1977) and many others like “Gladiator” (2000), starring Russell Crowe, and “Body of Lies” (2008) with Leonardo DiCaprio and the last one Aladdin starring Will Smith.

The first thing visitors see when arrive to Atlas Studios are many big black Egyptian statues negras and inside you can see a jet plane that was used in the 80´s in the “Jewel of the Nile” and other vehicles used in films.

Out in the desert, one of the most popular place to see is the Colisseum where Russel Crowe fought in Gladiator movie. Inside you can find other surprises like an Egyptian tomb with 12 feet statues guarding the entrance and exit. The museum is an amazing place to vist, we are sure it will transfer to another era.
